I love Oh Comely, and have done for some time. I’m also quite fond of their #onegoodthing: they tweet something at 1pm every day as a reminder of… well, simple but good things that happen in life. They gave me one good thing when this happened. And the timing of it couldn’t have been better. The early half of this year was a bumpy ride. Having a mini-stroke, and deciding to leave my role at Vulpine, left me both physically and mentally banjaxed. In a period of two months, two massive decisions had been made about my life: one which I had no control over, and the other was me stepping away […]

So, you may have noticed I’m even more excited than usual about the Tweed Run. For this years ride, the poster was designed by the brilliant Eliza Southwood. It features a woman (huzzah to that!) and that woman was inspired by… me. It feels pretty unreal to say that, and I’m still quite bowled over by it. I love planning and putting together an outfit for the Tweed Run – its always been one of my favourite things about the event. As this one is a bit special, I decided to have a more fun and let life imitate art: I had to try and recreate the outfit from Eliza’s amazing […]

We actually did it… me and The Boy broke our Christmas circle (basically staying indoors relaxing/eating/sleeping ad infinitum) and went out for a ride on Sunday. Although we left the house on Saturday for a very well planned visit to the sales, we didn’t ride to the West End (it was a bit too mad for that) and we were itching for a chilled post Christmas day cycle. Somewhat inspired by the spirit of festive colours, my cyclestyle for the day featured an Ivy wreath, incredibly red tights Santa would have been proud of and very metallic shoes… Jacket: Barbour Ear Muffs: UGG Scarf: Chloé Jumper: COS Necklace: Tatty Devine Tights: […]

Coffee and bikes – a well known combination loved by many cyclists, including myself… but what if I said the same could apply to tea? Always partial to a good Rosie Lee (well, I am from East London!), I’ve been enjoying some quality blends recently – so I was thrilled and intrigued when Tokyobike invited me round for a cuppa or two at the Good & Proper Tea Brew Bar which was in residence at their shop for four weeks… They say that tea in hot weather cools you down, so the surprise spring heat a few weekends ago was the perfect chance to hop on my Pashley, head to Shoreditch and put the theory into action surrounded […]

I had lots of fun playing dress-up in her Redchurch Street shop, and fell for her bike shoe collection in a big way, so I couldn’t wait to put Tracey Neuls’ Bike Fern Boot to the VCG test in the city… I was given* them back in September to test out, and box fresh this is how they looked: buttery smooth leather from the tan inner to the grey outer, and that distinctive reflective ribbon on the back. They were stunning… almost to the point of being worried about wearing them on the bike for fear of scuffing them up! BUT that is the beauty of this ankle boot – […]

This week I visited Tracey Neuls in Shoreditch. As an East London girl, I cycle around Brick Lane a lot & often stop to window shop at the hanging display in her Redchurch Street store… so it was a pleasure to be invited to spend an afternoon trying on her stunning shoes, and have a preview of her exclusive shoe collaboration with Tokyobike for the London Design Festival 2013. Tracey’s footwear has a loyal following amongst women in both the UK and Japan, and has also struck a chord with female cyclists who love the comfort and style of her shoes with their rubber sole to cycle around the city in. […]

(UPDATE: The feature is up on the BBC News Magazine site, which can be viewed anywhere in the world! Click here for article and video) I was back out on my Pashley Princess yesterday for a ride to Broadway Market (fast becoming a favourite place to ride to) for one of my Cycle Saturdays with The Boy. This one was a bit different though, as I spent the morning filming a piece for Newsnight with BBC Hague correspondent Anna Holligan… Keen cyclist Anna, along with producer Hannah & camera man / editor Suraj set off from The Netherlands on 31st July for a grand bike tour to London. I was thrilled […]

October is shaping up to be a busy month for VCG, and the 1st week was packed with cycling-related events to keep me on my toes… or should that be on my saddle? Starting off with an evening at the W Hotel for the Bicycle Film Festival (don’t forget, there is still the special event on the 12th which I’ll be at!) it was a chance to preview some of the ace films that were shown over the weekend, and to see Chinatown in its beautiful night-time glory. I adore how the huge lanterns suspended above the street looked like golden moons… The following day started off with an early […]

“The greatest show on Earth” came to an end with the London 2012 Paralympics closing ceremony on Sunday. After applying for Track Cycling events at the Olympics & Paralympic Games (and sadly not winning any tickets in the lottery) The Boy and I were lucky enough to be invited to the Velodrome for the penultimate Sunday morning session. The phrase has been used many times over for the games but it has to be said, it was extremely inspirational to watch the Paralympic Cyclists & be so close to the action too! We attended the Velodrome as guests of adidas for their ‘Front Line to Start Line‘ campaign. They were the official sportswear […]

August is always a busy month for me with the day-job (it’s now Clearing time in the UK University I work for in case you were wondering… it eats all my time), but its gotten rather hectic for all things VCG too. I’ve been unable to blog until now as I’m playing MAJOR catch-up with plenty of bike-related matters at the moment… but believe me, I’m not complaining! Anything to do with bikes makes me happy… There has been more work with The Cycle Show on ITV4: it has been an absolute blast working with the team on there for the past few weeks and meeting a wide variety of cyclists along […]

With less than a week to go before the start of the Olympics, I must admit my excitement for the event has been building up. First there was the emotional BBC documentary on Victoria Pendleton earlier this week (which featured the Cycletta event which I interviewed her about last year), and now the Torch has finally made it to Newham – home of the events and where I’m from. As it was passing so close to home there was no way that I could miss it, so I headed out to Green Street Market this morning to have a look… I loved this old bus… yes, there are lots of […]

The sun came out to play last Sunday. We had a lazy morning. Then decided to head out and roll with the sunshine. The Boy rode in Red. This Lady rode in ice cream ripple colours. Lillies were out on the Pond. Boy being… well, a ‘boy’ on his bike. A slow cycle home in the evening light. Finished with a Gingery delight. London in the Spring on our bikes. Welcome back.

From Blogging about cycle style to uploading my outfits and accessories on Instagram, it’s clear that combining fashion with technology is a love of mine. So, when I received an invitation from Westfield London to attend the digital focused ‘Future Fashion’ / ‘We Are Fashion’ Bloggers event on Monday, I was intrigued & simply had to go! The concept of ‘Future Fashion’ is a digital celebration of the launch of Spring/Summer 2012 across both Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City. Across five zones, shoppers will be able to create their own looks and styles from SS/2012 using interactive touch screens (which I got a preview of) Tweet Mirrors & social media photo booths and […]
